How It Works

Local time detection

The site reads the current instant with JavaScript Date and resolves your IANA timezone via Intl.DateTimeFormat().resolvedOptions().timeZone. No external timezone API is required for core countdowns.

Next occurrence rule

For a target clock time (for example 3:00 PM), we build today's local date at that hour and minute. If that instant is already in the past, we add one day. The live display updates every second.

1,440 minute pages

Every minute from 12:00 AM through 11:59 PM is generated from a single TypeScript data model and statically pre-rendered. Keyword research informs metadata and internal linking; it does not gate whether a minute page exists.

Accuracy limitations

Results follow your device clock. If the device time is wrong, the countdown will be wrong. DST edges depend on the browser's timezone data. HowLongUntil is a planning utility, not a certified timing service.

Data storage

Recently used times use localStorage only. See the Privacy Policy.
